'It's whit we dae...'
Our residents - the ‘weans’ - come into our care from many situations. Some - many - have been abandoned, neglected and/or abused and have never known what it feels like to be loved and safe. Some have been loved but their person has become ill or died.
Some are already in the last weeks or months of their lives, and finding themselves unwanted and unloved, need a safe, kind home where they can take their final steps with a friend by their side. Some are simply ‘unwanted’ and have no where else to go - this is true for most of the cockerel lads, who are the least wanted of all.
But all of the sadness and loneliness they have known in life is left at the gate when they come aboard 'The Good Ship Ringliggate'; here, they finally know love, kindness, respect, freedom, dignity, happiness. They are finally free to be themselves and find their inner puppies (or chicks!), and know what it is to have a life worth living, for however long they have left.
We make a promise to everyone who comes aboard; 'When you tell us it's time, we promise we'll listen. Until then, let's enjoy life!'
